Kenichi reached out and tapped the words:
Restore everything
In that instant—
he felt something shift.
The space around him didn’t shake.
There was no explosion of light.
But something deep inside began to unravel.
The shrine maiden stepped forward in silence.
“Your selection has been confirmed.”
Her tone was soft, ritualistic.
A quiet sound—like a bell ringing underwater—resonated in his skull.
Kenichi looked at his hand.
His fingers were trembling—
not from fear, but from an eerie lightness.
(So… this is it.)
He didn’t cry.
He didn’t scream.
He simply watched, as the outlines of his body
began to dissolve.
Not in pain.
Not in chaos.
But in something quieter than silence—
like snow falling on snow.
(I wonder… what will they see when I’m gone?)
Faces floated through his mind.
Tanaka.
His mom.
Yuto—though the name no longer held a clear image.
And that smile.
That one smile he couldn’t place.
Someone important.
Someone warm.
(I hope… they’re still smiling.)
His legs gave way.
The stone floor didn’t catch him.
There was no floor anymore.
Everything was white.
Weightless.
Just drifting—
like mist rising in morning light.
The shrine maiden knelt beside him.
“From this moment forward,
your existence will be corrected.”
Her voice was kind,
like a lullaby whispered through porcelain.
(I’m not afraid anymore.)
He closed his eyes.
No more regrets.
No more postponing.
No more distortion.
Just—
White.
