The Digital Priestess — Episode 5: Too Lucky to Be Real
The next morning, I woke up to find a single notification on my phone.
Weather today: Clear skies. Temperatures will be high, but your mood is “fortunate.”
(…Again?)
The weather info looked normal, but the last line—your mood is “fortunate”—felt strangely out of place.
Ever since yesterday, Miko Weather had been acting weird.
Not in a dangerous or creepy way, but just… off.
Still, it wasn’t unpleasant. Honestly, it kind of amused me.
On a whim, I decided to visit a nearby café.
The sky was crystal clear, just like the forecast had promised.
It was almost too perfect—like the weather itself was trying to match my mood.
At the café, I ordered my usual blend.
As I was about to take a seat, the barista called out to me.
“Sorry about this, sir. We accidentally prepared our special limited blend. It’s on the house, if you don’t mind.”
She handed me a premium-looking cup—something I’d never normally order.
I blinked and checked my receipt.
Yep, it said regular blend. No mistake on my end.
(Weird… Did I press the wrong thing?)
I took a sip. The aroma was richer than usual, and the flavor ran deep.
It was a nice surprise.
Still, as I sat there sipping, yesterday’s strange experience came to mind.
The girl in white.
That eerie moment when she looked straight at me through the screen.
(…Nah. No way.)
Trying to brush it off, I finished my coffee and headed home.
Yet somehow, I kept glancing at my phone.
The little bell icon in the bottom-right corner seemed to glow just a bit brighter today.
Probably just my imagination.
Or maybe my eyes were tired.
Then, something else caught my attention.
At the bottom of the screen, faint words appeared:
Today marks the entrance to your future.
(Like a fortune or something?)
A coincidence. That’s all it was. A happy accident.
That’s what I kept telling myself.
That night, I opened my diary app on a whim.
“Coffee mix-up today. Got a fancy one for free. Kinda lucky, I guess.”
I saved the entry.
The screen shimmered for a brief second—barely noticeable, but enough to make me pause.
I set the phone down and sighed.
Was it all just chance? An elaborate app feature?
Or maybe…
Something had quietly begun to move.
