【Japanese Horror】Digital Priestess Episode 2: Something Off
“Priestess mode…?”
A small bell-shaped icon quietly appeared in the lower right corner of the app.
I tapped it, but nothing happened.
It just sat there, locked, completely unresponsive.
But the icon gave off a faint glow, gently swaying, as if to say, “Come back later.”
(Unlock… how? Maybe it’s a paid feature?)
I checked the settings, thinking it might be some kind of premium content, but there was nothing.
Nowhere in the app did it mention “priestess mode."
It was like it never existed in the first place.
(…No, I definitely saw it.)
Confusion started to set in.
As a weather app, it was surprisingly well-made—almost too perfect.
Clean graphs. Smooth transitions. Temperature, humidity, wind speed, air pressure—everything was detailed and precise.
And yet…
That little bell icon sitting in the corner felt… wrong.
It didn’t feel like part of the interface.
It felt like it was watching me.
(…Maybe it’s just a hidden Easter egg or something.)
Just as I was about to close the app, I heard it—
a faint chime, like a bell ringing softly somewhere deep in my ear.
(…What was that?)
No notifications. No sounds playing.
I was alone in my room, and my phone was silent.
But something stirred deep inside me. An itch under the skin.
Just to be sure, I tried taking a screenshot.
But the bell icon didn’t appear in the image.
(…A bug? No way…)
I reopened the app. This time, the icon was already there from the start.
Still, it wouldn’t show up in any screenshots.
Like it existed only when you looked at it—but not when you tried to prove it.
I opened my phone’s notification history. Nothing.
Checked my sound settings. All effects were off.
And yet, I knew what I’d heard.
That faint chime, high and light—almost like it was ringing just for me.
It was supposed to be just a weather app.
That’s what I kept telling myself.
But deep down, I already knew—
Something was off.
