【Japanese Horror】Calls at 2AM | A Haunted Kaidan Tale
Hey, has this ever happened to you guys?
Getting a phone call at 2AM. Every single night.
I mean, that’s not normal, right?
At first, I figured it was just a glitch. Maybe some weird notification.
Nothing to worry about.
But around the fifth night, I started thinking—
Okay, this isn’t normal anymore.
The call always comes from a blocked number.
And when I answer? No voice.
Just silence. Then it hangs up.
Every single night, at exactly 2:00AM.
To the second.
Thing is, I’m usually asleep at that time, so I didn’t even notice the first two nights.
It wasn’t until the third night that I happened to wake up and finally caught it.
I checked the call history—nothing there.
But I clearly remembered answering it.
It creeped me out, so I installed a call recorder app.
The next morning, I checked it, and yeah… there was a recording.
About six seconds long.
A low crackling sound, like something shuffling around.
And near the end, a woman’s voice—soft, close—whispered:
“…Still awake?”
Let’s just say, I didn’t sleep at all that night.
I know what you’re thinking—
“Okay, so you got a weird call. That’s not that unusual.”
Yeah, I get it. I probably would’ve said the same thing.
But what happened the next night… that changed everything.
Same deal—2:00AM sharp. Phone rings.
This time, I picked up with the recorder running.
And this time… it wasn’t silent.
“…Good evening.”
A woman’s voice. Calm, soft. Young—maybe twenties.
It didn’t sound robotic or fake, but it felt too close.
Like she was whispering right next to my ear, not through the phone.
I stayed silent.
Then she said,
“You noticed. I’m glad.”
I had no idea what she meant.
But before I could say anything, she added:
“It’ll rain tomorrow.”
Next day?
Weather app said clear skies. Not a cloud in sight.
But around noon, out of nowhere—downpour. Thunder, lightning, the whole thing.
Localized, too. The news said, “an isolated storm with no clear cause.”
That’s when I stopped brushing it off as a prank.
I was too scared to answer the next night.
Let it ring and just lay there, frozen.
Next morning, I checked my phone.
One notification.
“Call answered.”
I didn’t touch it. I know I didn’t.
But the call recorder had a new file.
Just four seconds long.
It was my voice.
“Yeah… okay,” I said.
The thing is—I don’t remember saying that.
At all.
And it didn’t even sound like I was awake.
Can your phone answer calls by itself?
Anyone?
That night, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I left my phone out in the living room—no sound, no vibration, everything turned off.
But right at 2AM, I heard it.
Ring… ring… ring…
Coming from behind my bedroom door.
It didn’t make any sense.
I had everything muted.
And the sound—
It wasn’t muffled like it should’ve been.
It felt close, like it was ringing right next to me.
Then I heard a voice.
From the living room.
“Pick up.
…Hey, are you ignoring me again?”
I froze.
Stayed completely still, holding my breath under the covers.
After a few moments, the ringing stopped.
But I couldn’t help it.
I had to know.
So I got up and slowly walked out to the living room.
And there it was—
My phone, untouched, screen glowing in the dark.
One message was waiting on the screen.
“Let’s talk properly tonight.”
The next morning, I bought a brand-new phone.
Changed my number. Fresh start.
I just wanted it to be over.
No more weird calls. No more voices.
That night, I finally slept peacefully.
…Until I woke up at exactly 2AM.
No sound. No ringing.
My phone wasn’t even lit up.
But there was this heavy feeling in my chest.
I looked over at the new phone sitting on my desk.
One notification.
No sender.
“Thanks for picking up.”
…
Tell me, guys—
That wasn’t me… right?
